Overtime is earning time and a half (1 ½) for all hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek. Overtime rates are calculated on a weekly basis considering both your home job pay rate and any secondary job pay rates you may have. Read below to help understand how we calculate overtime:
Working Secondary Job Codes with different pay rate
“Straight Time Total” (Or “Time”) is calculated by multiplying hours worked in the home job by the home position pay rate, multiplying hours worked in the secondary job by the secondary pay rate and adding the two together.
Calculate the average rate by dividing “Straight Time Total” by total Hours worked in all positions.
“Premium Rate” (this is the additional ‘half’ in ‘time and a half’ that you will be paid for overtime hours) is calculated by dividing your “Average Hourly Rate” in half.
“Premium Wage” is calculated by multiplying the “Premium Rate” by the number of OT hours(number of total hours over 40)
Total Pay is calculated by adding “Straight Time Total”(Time) with the “Premium Rate”(and a half):
